Not sure which initial to choose? First name or last name? According to those that write the etiquette books advise that either is appropriate. Here's a rule that may work for you.
- Select the first initial of the first name if the note is an informal message or from single person.
- Select the first initial of the last name if the note is a formal message or from a couple.
